Agra

No better way to start a wedding then at the magnificent Taj Mahal - one of the greatest monuments to love and devotion. We will aim to leave around 10am from Delhi; it can be a late start for some and other will take the morning to finalize suit and clothing orders with the in house tailors.

The Taj Mahal was built by the emperor Shah Jehan for his favorite wife Mumtaz. It took 20, 000 workers 22 years to complete in 1653. Although the Taj Mahal is amazing and a site not to be missed - we will not be spending much more time other than to see the Taj Mahal. We will spend the night in Agra where we can have a relaxing dinner before heading to Jaipur in the morning.

Dec 15, 2016

Jaipur

We will depart Agra early in the morning to make it to Jaipur for a day of sight seeing. If possible on route we will try to stop at Fatehpur Sikri.

Widely known as the Pink City this city is color washed pink to welcome Prince Albert, the consort of Queen Victoria of England who visited India in 1883 A.D. Jaipur is surrounded by hills on three sides, crowned by formidable forts and majestic palaces, mansions and gardens. Jaipur is the only city in the world, which is sub-divided in to nine rectangular sectors symbolizing nine divisions of universe. Jaipur is the first planned city designed in accordance with epochal treatise of Hindu architecture.  Here we will visit the Hawa Mahal and Amer Fort.  Rest of day is at leisure, free for independent activities. We will spend the night here before departing back to Delhi.

Delhi Day Tour

Enjoy your leisurely morning in Jaipur and we will proceed to Delhi. As it has been a busy trip so far we will take a later start from Jaipur. Once in Delhi we will drive onto Raj path, a two mile long avenue originally the focal point of British India and now used for parades; lined with ornamental canals then drive past India Gate, Parliament House and Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The rest of the evening will free for individuals to use as they like with trips arranged for shopping at Connaught Place and Old Delhi previously known as Shahjahanabad. Some of the adventurous among you can take a cycle rickshaw through the chaotic, noisy and bustling markets of Chandni Chowk, where trading continues in the maze of shops as it has done over the Centuries. Afternoon is free to walk around in the colorful and bustling bazaars for personal exploration or shopping.

This concludes our "Golden Triangle' part of the tour. Next we will head north for some more adventures!

Dec 17, 2016

Haridwar

We will leave Delhi in the morning and for our longest drive of bus tour - to Haridwar.  But first we will visit the famous Red Fort and see the seat of the great Mughal Empire and the site were India's independence was declared.

Moving from the arcane to the spiritual our next site, Haridwar is located at the point where the Ganges emerges from the Himalaya, Haridwar is India's holiest Hindu city, and pilgrims arrive here in droves to bathe in the fast-flowing Ganges. The sheer number of people gathering around Har-ki-Pairi Ghat give Haridwar a chaotic but reverent feel. Within the religious hierarchy of India, Haridwar is much more significant than Rishikesh, an hour further north, and every evening the river comes alive with flickering flames as floating offerings are released onto the Ganges. It's especially busy during the yatra (pilgrimage) season from May to October, and is the site of the annual Magh Mela religious festival.

Here we will be able to have an evening puja on the Ganges and spend the night in this bustling city.

Dec 18, 2016

Rajaji National Park with Overnight in Rishikish

We could not come to India without a trip to a national park to see some wildlife!  Rajaji National Park, covering 820 sq km in the forested foothills near Haridwar, is best known for its wild elephants, numbering around 600 at last count.

The park also contains about 250 leopards and 11 tigers, and is under consideration for being declared an official tiger reserve. The park also boasts a handful of sloth bears and some 300 species of birds.

After our safari we will then overnight in Rishikish.  Rishikish is also home to numerous yoga ashrams. We will have yoga sessions available for those that wish in the evening as well as the morning prior to departure.

Dec 19, 2016

Chandigarh

After our overnight in Rishikish we will depart for Chandigarh.

Chandigarh is the capital of Punjab and Haryana. We are stopping in Chandigarh for an evening of Punjabi style wedding celebrations!! At the heart of Punjab we will have a nice afternoon in where you can explore this cosmopolitan city. Here we will have some Punjabi cultural events (have your bhangra moves ready) and dinner while staying at a 5 star hotel.

Here you can rejuvenate before heading up to Dharamshala.

Dec 20, 2016

Arrive in Dharmshala

On our way to Dharamsala from Chandigarh we will stop at the Kangra Fort.

Kangra Fort,  is an ancient structure dating back to 4th century BC. As one of the oldest forts in India and the largest fort in the Himalayas, this royal specimen of architecture was once an abode of the Royal family of Kangra – Katoch Dynasty. We will have a lunch here before heading farther up the mountain roads to finally complete our tour in McCleod Ganj.

Here we will have the opportunity to tour the market in McLeod Ganj, visit the Dalai Lama's monastery and the Tibetan Museum. You can visit these today or the following day.  We will be then checking into the wedding venue - Fortune Park Moksha Hotel at McLeod Ganj.

Other tourist options will be available for those who wish to spend rest of the day or the next morning exploring the area. There are many hikes or other Buddhist, Hindu or Christian sites in the near vicinity.  Or just wondering the hills can be a wonderful break from the hectic streets of other locations.
